Culture and Community Account Coordinator

This position is full time and based in person, in office, five days a week in New York City. Positions are non-exempt and report directly to the Senior Vice President of Account Strategy and Account Executive, Culture and Community.

The primary responsibility of the Culture and Community Account Coordinator is supporting colleagues and building independence on the marketing and publicity activities for multiple touring Broadway productions across North America.  General responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Developing show campaigns with Managers and Senior leaders including the creation of marketing and publicity materials, proposing and managing creative timelines, outlining preliminary budgets for internal review and maintenance of budgets 
  • Under continued guidance of Account Managers or Senior leaders, collaborating significantly to a show’s marketing and publicity strategy with colleagues across the country, guiding them on how to implement show marketing efforts 
  • Review and oversight of advertising material approval, budget revisions and refinements, promotions and strategic ticketing offers  
  • Interpreting and recommending strategies based on sales data on an ongoing basis to recommend and refine marketing and publicity strategy. 
  • Independently present updates internally and externally with the client 
  • Pursue new marketing and press activations for individual shows and across all projects 
  • Actively pitch press stories and marketing initiatives on a national level 
  • Maintaining and improving systems used to track media plans, budgets, revenue projections, press clippings for each show  
  • Additionally, all team members are asked to assist the office on a variety of projects as assigned.  

 Specific responsibilities in the Cultural and Community Department also include: 

  • Assist in overseeing cultural partnerships and relationships within the overall marketing strategy for shows with a focus on Black audiences. 
  • Assist in overseeing the cultivation and ascertainment of African-American ambassadors and leaders across the country in various markets 
  • Assist in maintaining a database of key Black press, churches, VIP, leaders, influencers, etc. 
  • Assist in maintaining a calendar of key Black events in markets across the country on both a local and National basis 
  • Assist in securing talent opportunities across shows/tours assigned for promotional events, which may include, but not limited to conferences, galas, luncheons, parades, festivals, etc.   
  • Research and identify all details for community and curated cultural events and press events 
  • Assist in organizing elements of cast appearances at key churches and Black community events. 
  • Assist in curating promotional events at the theatre 
  • Engage with key Black VIPs and tastemakers to secure their attendance at shows 
  • Create invite lists, deploy invites, collect RSVPs, manage confirmations 
  • Assist in coordinating A/V, signage, F&B, gift bags, etc. 
  • Send out invitations, sponsorship packages and any other promotional materials involved with the marketing, publicity and promotion of shows 
  • Coordinate performance opportunities  
  • Distribution of sales information (flyers, program ads, eblasts, social offers) 
  • Coordinate and assist the execution and staffing of booths for community engagement (signage, flyers, merch giveaways, lead generation, multimedia content (TV/iPads) at any and all events/promotional appearances 
  • Invite leaders to attend the show as a tastemaker to expand word of mouth 
  • Ensure that early performances/press performances are attended by Black social tastemakers and influencers with outreach to elected, civic, political and community leaders, VIP and celebrities, social media influencers, heads of social, fraternal and religious organizations, media contacts 
  • Contact key ecumenical and community leaders to ’endorse’ and promote shows                                                                                                               

Ideally, candidates will possess the following qualifications:  

  • Minimum of 2-4 years applicable marketing or publicity experience or internships  
  • Positive, solution-based communication style and comfortable demeanor with a range of individuals, including co-workers, industry colleagues and clients 
  • Comfort with and ease for presenting to clients and speaking in groups 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and good judgment  
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment  
  • Ability to manage some job responsibilities “soup to nuts” with little oversight 
  • A commitment to being curious and excited by the opportunity to learn new things  
  • Understanding of the business and ability to navigate between competing priorities 
  • Ability to work effectively with both junior and senior-level staff with equal comfort  
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)  
  • Knowledge and proficiency of InDesign and Photoshop (preferred)
